Gallery Creation

Whilst the easiest way to create an Internet photo gallery is to use a ready-made hosted solution such as Flickr, it is quite straightforward to make your own personal gallery over which you have full creative control. To do this you need to find a hosting solution, then create the gallery, either on your own PC and upload it to the host, or create the gallery on the host and then just upload your pictures.

A real example, using Jalbum and Freebyte

JAlbum is a free gallery generator. Download, install, and follow the instructions. Creating a gallery amounts to little more than dropping and dragging photos into the Jalbum window and then pressing the "Make Album" button.

This creates the album in the folder you specified on your PC.

Next task is to arrange the web hosting. This can be a commercial host, such as One and One, or a free host. In this case we used Freebyte, a free host that we found via Free Web Hosts. Setting up an account with Freebyte only takes a few minutes.

To transfer the gallery from the folder on the PC to the host an FTP program is required. Again there are plenty of free options, such as AceFTP or FileZilla.

Once the files have been transferred to the host the gallery is ready - Here is the finished result - Sample Jalbum/FreeByte Gallery.
